The Parkland school shooting and 'false reality'

Knowing the things that mainstream media organizations don't want to tell us has become more important than knowing the things the MSM does want to tell us, writes Christopher Goff.

I don't claim to know the truth about the Parkland school shooting, in fact I don't think the truth is properly out there yet. But how interesting it is that media organizations sometimes completely fool themselves into thinking they know the truth, only for it to come back and bite them once they realize that the thing they reported in the first instance wasn't actually the truth at all.

Not long after the shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, in which 17 people died, one story in particular was very quickly picked up on and broadcast widely by the mainstream media, and it was the story which said that the 19 year-old man thought responsible for the massacre, Nikolas Cruz, was a member of a white supremacist group and which had as one of its aims the creation of a white ethnostate in the State of Florida. The source of this story was given as the leader of the group in question, named by the media as the Republic of Florida, and who had apparently contacted a US-based anti-fascist organization in order to volunteer this information. At the time, I thought this was mighty strange in spite of me reading this information on the fairly reliable Daily Wire website and which had attributed the story as coming from the respected newsgathering organization, the Associated Press. But still I asked myself the question: If Nikolas Cruz was a member of a white supremacist group, why would the leader of that group want to volunteer this information so freely?

Unsurprisingly, it wasn't until after the story of Nikolas Cruz being a member of some kind of white supremacist group had done several laps around the globe that someone stepped forward to expose it as a complete fabrication, this person presumably being the real leader of the Republic of Florida group and who had very likely caught wind of the damaging falsehood which was circulating in the media. The aim of this exercise in misinformation was clearly one of trying to dirty the name of the Republic of Florida, something which by all accounts it succeeded in doing very well. And if anyone reading this is surprised that there are leftists malicious enough to use the tragic deaths of 17 innocent people to try and achieve some kind of political objective, well then don't be.

This story has interesting parallels to what happened in the aftermath of Thomas Mair's murder of the Labour MP Jo Cox. I am sure most of the people reading this will remember the claim put around by the mainstream media at the time of how in the period before Jo Cox's murder, Thomas Mair had attended a meeting held in London by the US-based far-right group National Alliance. Only, and just like the claim that Nikolas Cruz was a member of a white supremacist group, it was something which was later exposed as a complete lie – the meeting in question wasn't even organized by the National Alliance, let alone attended by Mair – but again not before it had done a certain amount of damage to the reputation of the aforesaid organization. I believe members of a US-based anti-fascist organization were later blamed for making up this false story, these people quite possibly being exactly the same ones responsible for putting out the falsehood that Nikolas Cruz was a member of the Republic of Florida. (Anyone wanting to read the truth about Thomas Mair's supposed attendance at a meeting held in London by the National Alliance can find it here).

What is even more interesting, is that in the aftermath of the Parkland shooting it emerged that Nikolas Cruz, far from being a crackpot member of a white supremacist group, was actually enrolled in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, a federal organization sponsored by the United States Armed Forces, and had also received numerous awards from his school for outstanding academic achievement. Furthermore, the revelation that Nikolas Cruz was also Jewish no doubt came as a deeply unwelcome surprise to those members of the mainstream media who had just a short time earlier been trying to portray him as an immigrant-hating, right-wing extremist who was on a mission to kill Jewish pupils attending his former high school. And not only that, because while Nikolas Cruz's mother was Jewish, his father was Hispanic, something which puts him firmly in the category of a 'non-white, mixed-race' mass murderer. In fact, all told the Nikolas Cruz 'reality' could not be more different from the false one at first painted by the mainstream media.

I would add here that there is absolutely no intention on my part to in any way defend the abhorrent crimes of Nikolas Cruz and Thomas Mair, or for that matter to defend the reputations of either of these two individuals. Instead, it is merely my intention to draw attention to the left-wing agenda that the mainstream media operates to and its 'biological' habit of unfailingly seeing every news story from a left-wing perspective, even to the extent to which all notions of common sense and good journalistic practice are completely abandoned for the purpose of trying to propagate some kind of anti right-wing narrative. Like a dog chasing a cat across a busy road, these people would willingly go under the wheels of a proverbial truck such is their determination to try and damage the reputation of right-wing causes, groups and individuals. Most of the time this deeply unflattering habit has no effect other than the one of making mainstream media organizations look stupid, but at other times it can serve to damage the credibility that some mainstream media organizations like to claim they have. Indeed, in previous articles of mine I have written of how supposedly reputable newsgathering organizations have become increasingly delegitimized by the less politically-biased reporting of news events that people can nowadays find on social media.

One could be forgiven for thinking that we are nowadays living in a state of 'false reality' or, dare I say it, 'matrix', like something one might find portrayed in a sci-fi movie and where people are fooled into believing anything that their overlords want them to believe. Of this state of 'false reality', one can quickly find oneself wondering just how much of that which goes on in what some people have taken to calling the 'dreamworld' is actually staged or not as the case may be, and while I am not for one minute suggesting that events like the Parkland school shooting or the murder of Jo Cox were staged, one cannot fail to notice just how quickly and consummately certain news events are misappropriated for other purposes.

With the manipulation of truth as the new dark art and information wars the new reality, it does lead us to consideration of what news stories out there are actually real, or put another way, which news stories we can reasonably be assured of as being true. Personally, I have come to the conclusion that the news stories which are most likely to be true are actually the ones the mainstream media are least likely to report. And so it follows that it is exactly these forbidden stories which typically matter the most, in as much as they are usually the most telling.
